The deadline for Jetse de Vries’ upcoming SHINE anthology (Solaris Books) has been extended to August 1st. See the website for ample advice in addition to the actual guidelines.

The twitter version, Outshine, seems to be tweeting strong. It has its own guidelines.

Tor.com has a review of Federations, the new anthology edited by John Joseph Adams marred only by issues with the Kindle edition.

Via Biology in Science Fiction: Tangled Bank Press has announced an anthology of Darwin and evolution-themed fiction, The Tangled Bank, to be published electronically later this year. The submission period is May 1st to June 30th.

Via John Scalzi: the audio anthology of the ecopocalypse, METAtropolis, is coming out in hardcover this August from Subterranean Press.

I’m really excited to have this version of Metatropolis coming up, because while I’m obviously biased, I think the anthology well and truly rocks, and I’m happy it’ll be available in both print and audio.

VIa Futurismic: Jetse de Vries has announced a near-future science fiction anthology, SHINE, which will be open to submissions of (preferably) under 10,000 words in May and June 2009. Keep an eye on the guidelines until then.

Via SFScope: an open anthology, Federations, edited by John Joseph Adams, will pay 5 cents per word up to 5,000 words.

Prime Books expects to publish it in May 2009. He describes the anthology thus: “From Star Trek to Star Wars, from Dune to Foundation, science fiction has a rich history of exploring the idea of vast intergalactic societies, and the challenges facing those living in or trying to manage such societies. The stories in Federations will continue that tradition.

I got my contributor's copies of Strange New Worlds 10 this week, and Amazon claims it was published, appropriately enough, on July 10th. So shop early, shop often!
